Kathleen is a member of the family law and litigation departments at Mann & Partners. Kate can advise clients of the firm on various aspects of family law including property division, custody and access matters, support issues and domestic contracts. Her experience in litigation includes personal injury, contract disputes, and estates. Kate is an enthusiastic and compassionate advocate for her clients.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Kate graduated from St. F.X. University with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Following her undergraduate degree, Kate travelled to Kenya, where she completed an internship with the Coady International Institute’s youth internship program. Kate worked for a beekeeping and honey company focussed on ensuring sustainable income generation for farmers in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Following her internship, Kate returned to Nova Scotia where she attended law school at Dalhousie University in Halifax. It was there that Kate developed her passion for advocacy while working as a law student for the Dalhousie Legal Aid Service. As a student at Dalhousie Legal Aid, Kate provided advice on matters in youth criminal, family law, residential tenancies and poverty law.

After law school, Kate headed west to Calgary to article with a national law firm. Kate gained experience in a wide range of areas but focussed primarily on civil and commercial litigation matters. After completing her articles, Kate relocated to Ottawa and began to develop her practice in family law and litigation. Kate was called to both the Alberta Bar and the Ontario Bar in 2009. She is also a member of the County of Carleton Law Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Law Society of Alberta and is on the executive for the Ontario Bar Association Young Lawyers' Division (East).

When she’s not at work, you will find Kate spending time with family and friends. A relative newcomer to Ottawa, Kate enjoys exploring the city and surrounding areas. Having been bitten by the travel bug, Kate loves to travel and experience new cultures whenever she can.
