History of Mann & Partners, LLP
By Ted Mann
I first came to Ottawa in 1987 to join the law firm of Gold Kelly, and to move to a very livable city. Ottawa was a perfect city in which to explore and develop my passions for music, theatre, the outdoors, and, most importantly, the law and its relationship to people.
Over the following seven years, I built up my skills as a lawyer, and my knowledge of the city and many of its residents. During this time, I also developed a vision of how I felt a law practice should be run.
In 1994, I continued the practice of the firm Gold Gulliver in a sole proprietorship called Gold Gilbert Mann. In 1999, this became Mann & Associates, where I continued to develop and staff the type of law firm that fit my vision.
I was fortunate from the outset to have found--in Heather Austin-Skaret--a great legal mind with a similar sense of commitment to listening for and responding to clients' individual needs.
In 2003, we began exploring the idea of building a civil litigation department with an expertise in labour and employment law and also creating a family law department in the firm. Our growth has been based on attracting similarly committed individuals with a strong knowledge base, a sense of leadership and a strong desire to maintain and build on the unique client focus and positive environment that we had started with Mann & Associates.
Thus, the partnership of Mann & Partners, LLP was founded on November 1st, 2003, and we have been growing ever since.
As of April 2011, we have a team of 16 lawyers.
We have been fortunate to continue to serve a very loyal existing group of clients, who can now have virtually all of their legal needs met at one firm -- Mann & Partners, LLP.
Success breeds success, and we continue to grow to ensure we have the resources necessary to meet the changing needs of both our existing and our new clientele.
